Community Panel Meetings

The Captiva Community Panel meets on the second Tuesday of every month. All Community Panel meetings are open to the public, and we strongly urge all Captivans to attend and participate. Minutes are taken of every meeting, and we post those minutes here so that islanders who cannot attend can know what's being discussed and how various issues are being treated. The minutes are not verbatim transcripts of the meetings; rather, they are a summary of the discussions and procedings.

    • 9:00 a.m. Introductions and roll call; approval of Oct. 14 (if complete) and Feb. 10 minutes
    • 9:05 a.m. Land Development Code draft discussion -- Ken Gooderham
    • 9:35 a.m. Blind Pass and beach renourishment update -- Kathleen Rooker, CEPD
    • 9:45 a.m. Hurricane Response Committee – Doris Holzheimer
    • 9:55 a.m. Panel Web site (tentative)
    • 10:05 a.m. April deadline to amend panel bylaws by simple majority
    • 10:10 a.m. Committee reports:
      • Finance – Sandy Stilwell
      • Water quality – Dave Jensen

      • Fund-raising – Rick Hayduk
    • 10:30 a.m. Other business and public comment
      • Request to adjust meeting dates in May (to May 5), July (to July 7) & September (to Sept. 15)

“The Captiva Community Panel provides a public forum whereby Captiva property owners can present projects requiring variances and get feedback from and answer questions of the panel members and other Captiva neighbors attending the public meeting. The panel has no decision-making authority on variance requests but does advise Lee County as to the point of view of the panel and the point of view expressed by other interested Captivans attending the public meeting at which the variance request was presented.”
